Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Hotel 
You will be met at the Airport and transported to your Hotel. You will have time to relax or we can show you to some local sites or shopping areas. Later, you’ll meet your fellow travelers for a welcome dinner


Day 2: Manuel Antonio National Park Coastal Eco-Trek (12 Hrs)

Manuel Antonio National Park, a day-long excursion to explore pristine beaches, jungle trails, and coastal cliffs. Keep an eye out for sloths and monkeys as you hike the jungle trails, and soak up the sun and scenery as you swim over the coral reefs.


We'll ride along seaside cliffs and fields of African palms, and beach side villages. We'll trek into the park to explore its flora, fauna, and beautiful scenery. We'll enjoy white-sandy beaches and venture into the waves to snorkel. Offshore, watch for playful dolphins leaping in the water.


If you’re interested in hiking, set off after lunch for an adventure along the jungle trails that wind through this coastal haven. Admire the lush, tropical greenery and keep your eyes peeled for a variety of monkeys, birds, iguanas, and three-toed sloths in the jungle canopy. Venture out across the thin strip of land to Cathedral Point—the view looking back at the seaside park is a perfect snapshot of paradise.

Day 3: Sloth Encounter & Cultural Towns 

  • Observe sloths and other wild animals native to Costa Rica

  • Learn about Costa Rican sloths, their habits, customs, and diet

  • Visit the folkloric own of Sarchi, its Oxcart Factory, and Central Park

  • Travel to the traditional town of Grecia, its iconic Metal Church, and Central Park

We'll drive to the West Side of the Central Valley, where you will visit an animal rescue center specialized in treating sloths. At this sanctuary you will visit a few enclosures where the treated sloths are kept, called “Sloth Gardens”. Our guide will explain everything about these wonderful animals and answer all our questions. Other Costa Rican wild animals are treated at this sanctuary and we will learn about them as too. Treated animals will be released into the wild, such as monkeys, kinkajous, macaws, exotic birds, and others.
After sloths, we'll visit the town of Grecia, where to see its iconic Metal Church built in 1840. We then visit the town of Sarchi and its famous Oxcart Factory, where we'll learn their process of making Costa Rican Oxcarts, the country’s national symbol of work. We'll see skilled artisans paint oxcarts free hand. Souvenir shopping is available. Minimal walking involved.

Day 4: San Jose: Monteverde Sky Tram & Hanging Bridges Day Tour (12 Hrs)

Discover the lush Cloud Forests of Monteverde on this Sky Tram and Hanging Bridges trip from San Jose. Enjoy our scenic ride to the Northern Highlands of Costa Rica with great views of mountains, farms, local towns and the Coast of the Puntarenas Province. We'll visit the “Monkey Lady House” and see indigenous white-faced monkeys at a very close range. In Monteverde, we'll have a delicious lunch and proceed to ride the Sky Tram, with great views of the Monteverde-Santa Elena area. We'll walk the amazing Sky Walk Hanging Bridges in the Cloud Forest, where we'll hike with our expert naturalist guide for 2-3 hours, learning about the flora and fauna of this rare and endangered ecosystem

Day 5: Rainforest Adventure Atlantic Trekking Tour (8 - 10 Hrs)

Rainforests are one of our planet’s least understood ecosystems. On this tour, we'll explore the wonders of the rainforest in complete safety. Just one hour from San José, the topography of the 1,200 acre private reserve connects to Braulio Carrillo National park where we'll discover the rainforest’s mysteries and incredible wild beauty during a trekking tour led by expert naturalist guides. This hike offers plenty of action tempered with time to explore the rainforest and the Corinto River. We'll board the tram to Tower 12. Along the way, we'll learn to safely explore real primary rainforest, and hike down the dense forest to the Corinto River. Along the way there are small but difficult ascents, and at times a bit of mud adds to the adventure and challenge. The hike is demanding, but the rewards are fantastic with gorgeous river views. The crystalline waters gather high in the mountains before they run past you on your hike in the middle of an incredible forest. You can take a refreshing dip in one of the river’s natural pools surrounded by nature in its purest form. After a rest on the riverbank and a well-deserved picnic-style lunch, we'll hike back to Tower 12 with a new understanding of the intricacy of the rainforest. Sweeping panoramic views become something even more rewarding with amazing views. Back at the main facilities, we can shower and get off all the mud from our hike.

Day 6: Irazu Volcano, Orosi Valley & Lancaster Garden

Visit the highest volcano in Costa rica the colonial city of Orosi and the Lankester gardens and many sights on this day trip. The city of Cartago, located at the foot of the Irazu Volcano is our first stop. We'll visit the Basilica of Los Angeles, which attracts thousands of pilgrims from across Central America. We'll see the gold and silver charms, shaped as body parts that are offered for the healing of people. Our next stop is Irazu Volcano, reaching 11,000 feet above sea level and is the highest volcano in Costa Rica. We'll examine the gray earth that surrounds the crater, which looks remarkably like the surface of the moon.
We'll then descend into the Valley of Orosi, which is rich in history, where we'll visit the colonial church of Orosi, the oldest church in Costa Rica. Our last stop is the colorful Lankester Botanical Gardens where we'll explore the magnificent landscapes and admire brilliant plants and flowers.

Day 7: La Fortuna: Jungle Safari Float Sarapiqui to San Jose (8 Hrs)

Our day of travel is an action-packed adventure with an abundance of nature and wildlife on a two-hour safari float down the quiet, lower section of the Sarapiqui River. Our nature guide will paddle and steer our boat and point out the exotic rainforest wildlife such as birds, frogs, insects, and monkeys! We'll travel to a beautiful waterfall on the Pozo Azul River of Sarapiqui. Here we'll enjoy nature and the cool crystal clear water of the waterfall. We’ll float next to the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor with a good possibility to see sloths, howler monkeys, lizards, and black river otters. This area is famous for the incredible amount of tropical birds such as ospreys, boat-billed herons, parrots, kingfishers and the endangered great green macaw. We can get out of the raft and into the river and refresh ourselves. After boating, we'll be able to enjoy amazing Costa Rican gourmet coffee.

Day 8: La Paz Waterfall Gardens (6Hrs)


  • Sloths "lazy bears", hummingbirds, and more than 110 species of wild animals

  • Wonderful waterfalls of the park from panoramic points, in-front and behind the falls curtain

  • Learn about the local economy, customs, the history of Costa Rica, and the ecosystems

Travel through the beautiful landscapes of Vara Blanca before reaching the Waterfall Gardens. La Paz Waterfall Gardens is a natural park, crisscrossed by paths that lead to the spectacular White Magic waterfall. We'll stroll through the beautiful gardens and see wild animals such as, jaguars, pumas, monkeys, sloths, and more. The park has restaurants, flower, butterfly, and hummingbird gardens, an aviary, a rescued animal zoo, a serpentarium, a live frog exhibit, and an orchid exhibit, surrounded by cloud forests. We'll learn about the region's history and the 19th century ancestors who lived on the grounds. We'll enjoy a delicious buffet lunch before returning to our hotel

Day 9: Scenic Calypso’s Tortuga Island Catamaran Tour ( 9 Hrs)

  • Enjoy a gourmet lunch on a luxury catamaran yacht

Spend the day in absolute luxury and escape the daily grind on a trip to Tortuga Island. We'll head to Puntarenas for a delicious hot breakfast of eggs, galla pinto, queso turrialba, caramelized plantains, fresh fruit, fresh juice, and rich Costa Rican coffee. We'll board our luxury catamaran with expansive sun deck, swimming pools, and lounging nets, for a day of sailing to the breathtaking Tortuga Island. The incredible tropical paradise, bursts with luscious greenery, glistening white sandy beaches and turquoise sea. We'll spend the day swimming and snorkeling, riding banana boats, relaxing on the beach, or chilling on the catamaran. At lunchtime, we'll enjoy a gourmet 4-course meal including ceviche, grilled chicken, steamed rice, Julienne vegetables, garlic bread, and a salad bar. Lunch is also accompanied by coffee and dessert.
On the return journey we'll sail between the islands of the gulf and admire a majestic and unforgettable sunset before reaching port.

Day 10: Celeste River from San Jose (14 Hrs)


  • Visit one of the most famous areas in Costa Rica

  • Discover Celeste River Waterfall

  • Enjoy a walk on the trails through the Tenorio Volcano National Park  

We'll journey to Bijagua de Upala, which is a small town at Tenorio Volcano National Park and start our guided tour to the different attractions of this beautiful park. We'll enjoy a 2 mile walk to observe the natural beauty of the park. The volcano is inactive, but has a wide variety of flora and fauna. Many of these species are in danger of extinction such as the puma, danta, and tepezcuintle. Hopefully we'll spot them on the trail. Our first visit will be the Celeste River Waterfall to enjoy the incredible natural beauty of this 65 foot high waterfall. We'll see three of the five craters that the Tenorio Volcano has, Tenorio 1, Tenorio 2 and Montezuma from the highest point of the trail and we'll visit the Blue Lagoon and the fumaroles. After the tour, we'll enjoy a nice lunch and then return to our hotel.

Day 11: Rainforest Aerial Tram From San Jose (10 Hrs)


  • You will get into the Braulio Carrillo National Park

  • Enjoy of a hiking tour and the Aerial Tram

Explore each level of the Costa Rican rainforest from the ground to the top of the trees. Our Cable Car Tour teaches us about the rainforest while enjoying a magnificent view of Braulio Carrillo National Park and our private reserve. We'll immerse ourselves in nature during this glorious flight over the rainforest canopy. We'll also enjoy a guided nature walk, a butterfly garden, hummingbird garden, and orchid garden.

Day 12: Full day at Poas Volcano with Coffee tour at Starbucks Farm (12 Hrs)

Visit Poas Volcano to ascend the mountain. We'll see a beautiful array of colors and visuals with coffee plantations, ferns, flowers and strawberry farms along the way, There is a noticeable change in temperature and vegetation, preparing us for the pleasure of the exuberant cloud forest of the Poas Volcano, an active 8,885 ft volcano. The crater of the volcano is over a mile across and 1,050 feet deep. It's erupted 40 times since 1828, including April, 2017. At the Volcano we'll enjoy the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles. Then we'll have a delicious typical lunch at restaurants around the zone.

After the creater, we'll enjoy a coffee tour at the first Starbucks coffee farm in the world, Hacienda Alsacia. Starbucks helps to ensure the future of coffee with best practices for small-scale farm profitability; develop disease-resistant, high-quality coffee; and share information and resources freely with farmers around the world. We'll get a hands-on look at a working tree nursery, wet mill, drying patio and roaster. We'll learn what Starbucks is doing to empower farmers, promote sustainable practices and develop the next generation of coffee.

Day 13: Carara National Park and Crocodile River Cruise (6.5 Hrs)

  • Tarcoles River is a refuge for the famous scarlet macaws and 56 bird species

Carara National Park Preserve showcases colorful species of flora and fauna from a varied ecosystem. We'll enjoy a boat tour on Tarcoles River for crocodile and wildlife safari. This incredible protected area measures about 4,700 Hectares and is home to almost 50% of Costa Rica’s aviary species. This tour shows the importance of the region, as it is situated in a transitional region between the tropical dry forest and the humid pacific rainforest. The sanctuary is populated with  white face and howler monkeys, iguanas, toucans, and scarlet macaws. After admiring nature during our park hike we’ll enjoy a boat tour on Tárcoles River for a unique crocodile and wildlife safari experience. Our captain will help us spot crocodiles for great close encounter with these magnificent reptiles. We’ll be amazed by the wide diversity of birds, mammals, and reptiles that flourish in the mangroves. After, we can take in a few sites and then enjoy our farewell dinner.
